Evidence and learning

We know our treatment works. We are not really sure why.
We are interested in the physical, psychological or social factors that could be supporting the evidence we see with our own eyes.
What we know so far
Up to January 2026, we have worked with 19 people suffering with PTSD. Each of those 19 people reported that they left the island symptom free following the completion of our programme.
Some of these participants completed questionnaires to track their symptoms before, during and after their time with us, and this evidence shows significant reductions in symptoms. It’s not just passing relief either - our first participant came to us 7 years ago, and remains symptom free. Anecdotal evidence from other people we have worked with suggests that the effects of our treatment are long lasting. Martin, one of our participants from 2023, talks about his experience in this You Tube video here:
So what’s going on?
To support our understanding, we have turned to science. In this document (soon to be blog post), our Evidence and Learning Officer, Maia, has summarised some few relevant and interesting scientific journal articles from the fields of psychology, psychiatry, and neurology.
